Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture

Easier to learn than reels, jigs and slip jigs are thought to be older forms of Irish dance music. This term we will be teaching some important jigs and slip jigs, and exploring the subtleties of playing these iconic, uplifting tunes. Classes often include video clips, historical perspectives, and confidence-building exercises, as well as practice time. Students will receive a CD each week with the assigned tunes played slowly and at moderate speed. All players of melody instruments are welcome. Students should have from lower-intermediate to advanced proficiency on their instrument, even if Irish music is new to them
