Swing Guitar

This class is an extension of Swing Guitar 2 held in the Winter semester. Beginner to intermediate players: please contact the instructor regarding skill levels needed. Learning to play swing guitar is a fun way to expand your repertoire and broaden your musical enjoyment. It is not a virtuosic form of playing: at its best it is simple, rhythmic and danceable. We will continue to learn basic swing chords, simple music theory, and by the end of 6 weeks we will learn 6 more standard tunes in Western Swing, American and Gypsy Jazz style. We will also start to focus more on melodic playing and improvisation. Some prior guitar playing experience is recommended. Singers are highly encouraged to join the class and learn to accompany themselves on classic swing songs. Minimum enrollment 4, Max 10
