Important Update: Fall Semester

To our Friends, Fans, and Students,

We are almost ready to post our classes for the fall online: www.summit-school.org. They should be up by next week. We thank you for helping us get to this point, your donations have gone a long way this summer. We had a successful summer camp for kids (see pictures on our website), and we are offering 23 classes this fall, including a number of classes just for kids. We also received a grant from Montpelier City Arts to help fund our annual workshop and concert series. We are looking forward to bringing more fabulous traditional music to Montpelier this year!

IMPORTANT SCHOOL CHANGES TO NOTE:
We are still looking into ways to make the Summit School an institution in our community; we want to guarantee that we can bring classes to you year after year. In addition to applying to a number of grants and appealing to foundations, we have decided that some of the funding we need must come from our own programs. In order to become a more sustainable organization, we can't depend entirely on unreliable grant sources. This is where our students can help: We will be raising tuition by $20, from our previous $180/class to $200/class. Each students' extra $20 will go directly to the school's operating budget. We have been a voluntarily run organization for five years, and in order to keep the school healthy and alive for years to come, funding needs to go into our directorship position, website and graphic design and administration. We hope you'll understand this necessary change and continue to support our programs by signing up for classes this fall. Know that your tuition money is helping the school become more sustainable for the future.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for all you do, and we hope to see you soon,
