Covid Quarantine Music

Although Summit School has cancelled Spring classes, we would still like to support the traditional music community - teachers, performers, students, listeners - and especially local musicians! You can support musicians by checking out their websites, buying their music, tuning in to their online concerts, and more!

This is a live document, with updates occurring regularly!

Other Online Music Venues & Projects

Seven Days "Almost There" VT Live-streamed concerts - the page is updated regularly with ongoing and once-off live-stream music options. There are some non-music options there as well.

Young Tradition VT Events Calendar - this page lists various trad music and dance happenings, both YTV affiliated and otherwise, and is a wonderful resource for finding out what's going on in VT in the trad world! In these days of Covid, YTV streams concerts on its Facebook Page and Youtube Channel, and offers the occasional online class.

Big Heavy World radio station plays artists live-streamed shows on the air at 105.9 FM The Radiator- they also have a Community Calendar of live-streamed concerts, and a Youtube Channel and Facebook Page where live-streams can be viewed

Ed Pearlman's online Covid Concerts are a great way to tune in to fiddle music, from Scottish and Cape Breton tunes, to Shetland, Quebecois, and Klezmer!

Club Passim in Boston has put on the "Keep your Distance Fest", to raise awareness for all the musicians having a tough time during the pandemic. It's a long Youtube playlist of traditional musicians and singer-songwriters from New England and further afield.

Moira Smiley has begun a live-stream series: Vermont Big Singalong, starting Saturday, April 11th, 4-6pm. Tune in via Moira's Facebook, Instagram, or website, and raise your voices in song! There's even a helpful songbook of lyrics provided. 

Modern Times Theater has organized the Earshot Festival, Saturday, April 18th, 2pm. This is a decentralized, non-digital, simultaneous, free music performances of any and all types of music! Check out the webpage for more detail on venues.

If you're on Facebook, you can join the Quarantine Happy Hour FB group! Daily live music from a different person or musical household every day to keep us connected and supported during the quarantine. The scheduled performer will play 40 minutes to an hour of live music starting at 5:30 PST. A schedule will be posted, virtual tip jars will be in effect and 100% of the tips go to the performer of the day. Get the quarantini fixings out and enjoy the music!

Caffè Lena is hosting two 4-week workshop series with Bruce Molsky starting the week of April 30th, for fiddle (starts April 30th, 7pm) and banjo (starts April 29th, 7pm). Workshops for kids also available! More info and registration at this link: www.caffelena.org/menu/music-school/
