Old Time Fiddle with Sammy: 10:15 to 11:30 AM
I like to teach fiddle by jumping right in and teaching tunes. With old time fiddling, the
bowing is probably the most important factor. There is a lot of syncopation in old time
fiddling rhythm, so this will be the focus of every tune. We'll start by teaching a tune that
has a repetitive bowing pattern throughout both the A and B parts, and then we'll move
on to other tunes that just vary slightly in their patterns.

Old Time Guitar with Nadine: 10:15 to 11:30 AM
The Old Time guitar workshop will focus on providing a solid back up for the
melody instruments. We will play many fiddle tunes, recognize patterns, and gradually
integrate bass runs without compromising the rhythm! Participants should bring a capo.

Old Time Ensemble with Nadine and Sammy: 1:15 to 2:30 PM
Nadine and Sammy will host an Old Time session/workshop for acoustic instruments.
Tunes will be played slowly first for everyone to get the melody and chords then
gradually faster up to a dance tempo. Repertoire will come from the Appalachian
Mountains as well as the Midwest. Keys may change so capoes are encouraged for
those that use them.

Cajun Harmony Singing with T’Monde: 10:15 to 11:30 AM
Join Megan Constantin and Kelli Jones of the Cajun band T’Monde for a harmony
singing class focused on Cajun repertoire. Participants will learn songs the instructors
enjoy singing in harmony. We will work together to understand and sing the songs, then
build some harmony parts. No prior experience with Cajun music or the French
language is required. The class will move at a comfortable pace and emphasize
attentive listening, group singing, and collaborative learning in a supportive environment

Cajun Fiddle with T’Monde: 1:15 to 2:30 PM
Join Kelli Jones of the Cajun band T’Monde for a Cajun fiddle repertoire class focused
on learning traditional tunes, rhythms, and techniques for playing chords/seconding
another fiddler. The class will be taught by ear, and all levels are welcome.
