Class Description

Join this 6-week course delving into Old Time Fiddle playing! This class is ideal for adult learners who have a little experience playing folk fiddle, or those returning to the instrument after taking a long break. Expect a slow, supportive, low-pressure class filled with listening, discussion, and lots of fiddle playing together! If you're a complete beginner interested in taking the class, please reach out to info@summit-school.org about setting up a couple of discounted private lessons beforehand. Macey Mayfield is a fiddle player and dancer who moved to central Vermont from NYC about 10 years ago. She can be seen performing with her partner, Erik, in their old time duo Frosty Frog, and in the Burlington-based folk rock band Emerald Ground Water. Her teaching style is based on a desire to spark joy and artistic expression in her students, and is inspired by her background in theatre. She loves playing bluesy old time and mystical Irish tunes most of all. Macey serves on the board of the Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture.
